Genuine novice's aged gelding in LYTTON, Queensland for sale
"Mouse" is an apprx 15.1-2hh 25yo? yo chestnut quarter horse x gelding.
Ridden by novice adult currently and by young girl on and off lead line at a walk and trot. Mouse is an old plopper type ( not stubborn but not that fast anymore), has plenty of life still left in him, but he is past being a competition horses week in week out.
He has a soft mouth and good breaks and steering. Will just plop around pony club events no worries at all, carry flags off him and hoola hoops. Not fazed by the cavaletti's etc.
Mouse is a walk-trot horse really... his canter is uncomfortable but he tries.
Is not a stubborn horse at all or kick along, but in the same way he is not overly forward ( unless you're trotting back to his paddock mates)
I want mouse to go to a one on one pleasure/trail riding home, even OCCASIONAL pony club. But he cannot go to a home that competes week in week out, or wants to hoon.... he's past all that.
Has done :
Pony cub, trail riding, road work and some mustering (pokig along behind cows)
Nature:
He is an absolute sweet heart! Wants to be your best mate!!!!!!!!!! Loves to be groomed, easiest horse in the world to catch, he catches you and comes when called. Will follow you around for a pat.
He is no problem to rug, worm, wash.... he self loads onto my float as well.
Feeding:
Mouse was anaemic and malnourished when I got him ( not quite 2 months ago). He gets fed large bikkie of Lucerne hay..... scoop annd a half of gumnuts, scoop of pollard and mixed chaff 2 x a day now
Health:
Had vet look him over 2x's
No heart murmur and has clean legs.... not lame with arthritis or anything like that . He does have a goiter (enlarged thyroid-lump under his neck), this was from not having enough iodine in his diet at past home... does not affect him in anyway at all and has gone down since having him. Vet did take a sample to confirm it was his thyroid and that there were no cancer cells at all, just a goiter
He is up to ate with 2-1 vac and just had his teeth done recently by vet again, teeth are worn in placed but all their and functioning, he has no problems chewing anything
Up to date with worming and feet also
Vices:
Puts his ears back when you girth him up
Gets anxious if you take all his paddock mates away and will run around, likes his company... if you ride him out by yourself he will try and walk back to his mates once or twice and you have to steer him back where you want him..... but nothing major! Will not take off etc if other horses run up beside him while you are riding
